The Information Technology Committee has opened this forum to gather input from students, employees, and community members regarding technology issues on campus. Please share your experiences by responding to the topics listed on the main page, using the comment link.
Information gathered from this forum, along with the on campus forum (10/16/08) will be studied and discussed by the IT Committee in our efforts to remain responsive to the college community. The IT Committee meets the second and fourth Fridays of each month, at 9AM in the Business Building. Additional information about the committee is available on the college website.

This summer, I piloted D2L and though I'm MOSTLY pleased with this new LMS there is one glaring problem:
I am tired of students being FORCED to use i-mail (which as we know is not terribly reliable - not always reaching students, blocking/deleting attachments, requiring way too many "steps" for students, going "down" when our server periodically dives, etc.). AND it's very frustrating not to be able to e-mail my students at their "preferred" e-mail addresses directly from the course website.
With blackboard, it was soooooo easy to send an e-mail to everyone and/or particular students.
I just don't understand why we cannot allow students to choose and enter their preferred e-mail address on D2L.

In Blackboard I can update my email address. In Desire 2 Learn I am forced to use iMail. What gives?
